Donald
Hector is principal consultant at Grassick SSG, a specialist
advisory focusing on:
- Strategy
- strategic management, business planning, and implementation;
- Sustainability
- organisational sustainability and corporate responsibility;
and
- Governance
- board effectiveness, governance processes, and crisis management.
He
is based in Sydney and works with clients in Australia and New Zealand.
He has had extensive experience as chief executive officer, both
of a US multinational subsidiary and as managing director of a listed
Australian public company. Don has lived in the United States and
has worked extensively in Asia and India.
Don is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (UK), a
Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, a Fellow of the
Australian Institute of Company Directors, an Honorary Fellow of
the Safety Institute Management of Australia and is a Chartered
Professional Engineer .

- Strategic
Management and Business Planning: Don has wide-ranging experience
in strategic planning, market definition, financial analysis,
economic evaluation and scenario planning to gain competitive
advantage, drive business growth and improve profitability. He
has broad experience in commercial and industrial markets, and
has particular interest in new technology commercialisation in
companies preparing for raising capital. Don has also worked extensively
with not-for profit organisations, particularly in education.
- Sustainability:
Don's PhD research interests and his experience with PACIA and
the implementation of the Responsible Care program has given him
considerable insight into issues surrounding the "triple bottom-line"
and the challenges businesses face in the 21st century. In particular,
these relate to water, energy usage, occupational health and safety,
corporate social responsibility, and environmental and ecological
policy.

Governance: Don has extensive experience as managing director
of a listed public company and a US multinational subsidiary and
also as a director of joint-ventures, private companies, and not-for-profit
organisations. He has considerable experience in using risk management
and decision-making techniques as they apply to the principles
of corporate governance.
- Crisis
Management: Don has had considerable experience in crisis
management, for several years having managed the silicone breast
implant issue for Dow Corning Australia. This involved public
relations management, government liaison, and litigation coordination.
