The One Day Succession Plan process allows you to do one or all of these options, with some pre-worked analysis followed by a one day intensive session.

Option #1: Sell the Business

If you want to sell your business we will help you to prepare a Sales Memorandum that spells out exactly why you should be paid a price that the business really deserves.

This involves a pre-work analysis with you that includes:

  • a customer survey to get the positive comments from customers to put into your Sales Memorandum
  • analysis of your P&L and Balance Sheet from the last three years to identify how your business compares to its industry benchmarks
  • an estimated business valuation based on its net assets and future maintainable earnings
  • information on your industry, competitors and your assets

Then, in a one day session, we help you to prepare the Sale Memorandum which gives you a rationale for why this is a great business to buy and provides the detailed analysis to justify the price that you want.

The Sale Memorandum includes:

  • An Executive Summary that can be used as a short description given to interested buyers regarding what is for sale, why it is a good buy and the sale price
  • An Industry Analysis that explains the growth potential in the sector
  • A Background and History of your enterprise
  • A Product/Market Matrix showing what level of sales you get from each of your customer groups
  • An Organisational Chart
  • The Tangible and Non-Tangible Assets
  • Competitor Analysis and your Competitive Advantage

Option #2: Prepare to Hand-over to a Successor/Family Member

If you want to prepare your business to hand-on to a successor and/or prepare yourself for retirement or slowing down, we will help you to write a Succession Plan that sets out what YOU need to do to get the business ready for hand-over to your successor.

This involves a pre-work analysis with you that includes:

  • analysis of your P&L and Balance Sheet from the last three years to identify how your business compares to its industry benchmarks
  • gathering your personal financial information to predict your future income and expenses after you hand-over
  • a customer survey to get the comments from customers regarding strengths and weaknesses of the business
  • an assessment survey of how ready the business and you are to hand-over

Then, in a one day session, we help you to prepare the Succession Plan, which includes:

  • Your personal strengths and weaknesses regarding succession
  • An indicative valuation of the business and its financial performance
  • The strengths and weaknesses of the business from an organisation, customer and financial perspective
  • A detailed SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis
  • Personal and Business goals for the future
  • Action Plans to get you - and the business - ready for the big changes ahead.

Participants will receive $1,000 worth of customer research, $500 worth of software and plan templates, the business support of three succession experts (worth $2,000) and a completed succession plan, sale document and three year budget for just $900 + GST which is payable over 3 months.
