"I did the Profit and Growth Succession Plan in March 2007, because my accountants felt I would benefit. I attended the three one-day sessions at which I was helped by the business consultants and accountants to analyse my business, set some goals for the future and then prepare detailed action plans. We also prepared a three year budget, the first time I have ever done this in my whole business life.
The results have been very interesting. I expected to learn more about selling my business but the big thing was the insight I got into my own business. "Although we are at least 15 years away from retiring age we decided to do the Profit & Growth Succession Planning workshops as a way of planning our business and the years ahead for us as business owners.

"I see myself as a typical business owner who has started a business because I was good at making windows and doors.
